PSO exists to share the life-changing message of the gospel of Jesus Christ through the vehicle of youth football. We require our coaches to lead their team spiritually by praying with their team and leading them in weekly devotionals. Our desire is that youth football players from across the Metroplex would have an opportunity to know Christ personally, learn to play football the right way, and learn valuable life lessons that can be taught through youth sports. PSO leagues strive to make every child a champion. Therefore, PSO coaches are led to encourage, motivate, and build each child’s self-esteem as well as his or her athletic ability.
Mandatory Coach/Volunteer Screening Process
All Fall 2025 PSO Football Head Coaches, Assistant Coaches, and Team Managers are required to register per the instructions below. After you have registered in Touchpoint, you will receive email instructions for submitting an online volunteer background check application and to complete Ministry Safe training. We make every effort to protect our children, so we appreciate the time it takes for you to complete the requirements.
As part of our ongoing commitment to teaching positive life values to the children in our sports leagues, each team will have a designated Team Chaplain responsible for leading the weekly value lesson and pre-game prayer. This role can be filled by the head coach, an assistant coach, or a trusted parent who shares our values and is comfortable guiding these moments for your team.

Mandatory Coach Meeting and Coach Clinic
All head coaches are required to attend our mandatory coaches’ meeting at the beginning of each season. Assistant coaches are welcome to participate. Go to the Key Dates for the most current coaches’ meeting dates and time.
During this meeting, you will be able reserve a PSO football field to practice, if you have already completed your mandatory volunteer background and Ministry Safe screening. The scheduling of practice space is done on a first-come, first-served basis. PSO does not guarantee space, so you may need to secure your own practice space elsewhere.
Devotionals (Devo) Value Lessons
Weekly value lessons via the FCA Coach App will be done before the start of practice. (Click on the link at the end of this section.) Each coach is responsible for leading the devotion five minutes before the start of each practice. On game days all players will circle up and take a knee at midfield for opening prayer. More details to come!
