Soccer, Baseball, and Flag Football


Before attending any PSO event, it is your responsibility to self-check for any COVID-19 symptoms. If you exhibit any of these symptoms, contact your physician or healthcare provider immediately and please refrain from attending any PSO events.

People with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear two to 14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficult breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

This list does not include all possible symptoms. The CDC continues to update this list as we learn more about COVID-19.

COVID-19 Reporting
If any player or coach on a team tests positive for COVID-19 or is exposed to COVID-19, the coach needs to notify the director of the sport.  Coaches we need you to be transparent and always notify the league director when they think there was any kind of exposure.

COVID-19 Return-to-Play Guidelines for PSO


These guidelines are for practices, camps and game play in accordance with the CDC’s recommendations. All participants in a PSO event will be required to abide by the following guidelines to assure the health and safety of all participants and staff. 



  • Parents must self-check their player’s temperature before every practice and game.
  • Player’s temperature must be below 100 degrees to attend practice and games.
  • Parents should ensure the player is healthy by also checking the player’s temperature before participating in activities with others. 
  • Do not attend any activities if exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 such as fever, cough, difficult breathing or other symptoms identified by the CDC as being COVID-19 related.


  • If you or any member of your immediate family is sick or might be sick, please stay home and do not expose yourself or your child to others; do not attend practices, camps or games. Notify your coach immediately if the player becomes ill for any reason.
  • Players should not attend any PSO activities if they have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, or is awaiting test results, within the past 14 days. 
  • Please wash your hands often with soap and water to ensure the safety of players and staff. 
  • Please write your name on your equipment and only use your own equipment. Do not share water, sunscreen, hand sanitizer, socks, gloves or any other protective equipment with other players or staff. 
  • Please wash and sanitize all uniforms and equipment before and after each game.
  • Please avoid carpooling to games and practices whenever possible. 
  • Wearing masks is recommended for all spectators, coaches and inactive players.
  • Players should place all water and personal equipment at least six feet from the equipment of others. Ensure your player has his/her own equipment (ball, water, bag, etc.) and has been told not to share with others.
  • Do NOT engage in handshaking, hugs or high fives before, during or after the game.
  • Families are allowed as spectators at games, but should remain at least six feet from other families and should not approach non-family members. It is RECOMMENDED that only one parent per player attend practices and games. It is RECOMMENDED that anyone with underlying health conditions stay at home. It is RECOMMENDED that siblings stay at home.
  • Please arrive at the location just in time for activities to begin and leave immediately after they are finished to avoid congregating; vacate the facility to allow the next participants access with as little interaction as possible. 
  • All families and players must remain at least 10 feet from the touch lines.



  • Coaches are encouraged to wear masks. 
  • Coaches should NOT pressure any player to participate in any event if the player or the family feel threatened by the COVID-19 virus.
  • Inquire how each player is feeling. For the safety of everyone, if a player appears to be ill, please notify the parent and ask that the player be taken home. 
  • Ensure each player has his/her own equipment (ball, water, bag, etc.), and instruct all players not to share equipment.
  • Maintain social distancing during and in between drills as possible. 
  • Please do not run contact drills. 
  • Please provide extra time for sanitation breaks as well as water breaks during sessions. 
  • Please do not allow huddles, small-group gatherings or physical contact such as handshakes, hugs, high fives or fist bumping. 
  • The use of scrimmage vests is NOT recommended. A newly washed team pinnie may be issued to individual players for their use as a part of their personal equipment and should be retained by the player for washing along with his or her uniforms or practice gear. 
  • Only coaches should touch equipment such as goals, cones, flags or any other equipment used in the session and all equipment should be sanitized after use. 
  • Have hand sanitizer available for coaches to use.
  • All pre-game warmups should be compliant with at least six feet of social distancing and spectating. This includes coaches and players.
  • Pregame, halftime and post-game instructions should be kept to a minimum, and have players practice six-foot distancing rather than sitting next to each other.
  • Parents and guardians should not be permitted in the session area, only rostered coaches. 
  • At the completion of any session all players and families should be encouraged to leave the area in a timely manner to maintain social distancing. 
  • In case of an injury, the health and safety of the player will remain the top priority. Care will be taken by the coach when addressing small injuries and parents will be notified immediately if their assistance is needed but should remain on the side unless requested by the coach. 
  • Players should be dismissed by the coach only when the parent or guardian is visible so the player can leave directly with no distractions.



Any individuals who either: (a) are lab-confirmed to have COVID-19; or (b) experience the symptoms of COVID-19 (listed below) must stay at home throughout the infection period, and may not return to PSO activities until the following re-entry criteria have been met:


(A) Individuals lab-confirmed with COVID-19 may only return to PSO facilities/practices/games when all three of the following criteria are met:

  1. At least three days (72 hours) have passed since recovery (resolution of fever without the use of fever-reducing medications), and
  2. The individual has improvement in symptoms (e.g., cough, shortness of breath, fever), and
  3. At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.


(B) If the individual has symptoms that could be COVID-19 and has not been evaluated by a medical professional or tested for COVID-19, such individual is assumed to have COVID-19. The individual cannot return to PSO facilities/practices/games until the individual either 


  1. Obtains a medical professional’s note clearing the individual for return based on an alternative diagnosis, or
  2. Receives two separate confirmations at least 24 hours apart that individual is free of COVID via acute infection tests at an approved COVID-19 testing location. If the individual is tested and lab-confirmed to have COVID-19, scenario (A) applies.




  • Coaches are encouraged to wear masks.
  • Parents must check the temperature of their player before each game and record a temperature under 100 degrees.
  • Families are allowed as spectators at games but should remain at least six feet from other families and should not approach non-family members. It is RECOMMENDED that only one parent per player attend practices and games. It is RECOMMENDED that anyone with underlying health conditions stay at home. It is RECOMMENDED that siblings stay at home.
  • Maintain six-foot social distancing from non-family members.
  • It is always HIGHLY recommended to wear a mask.
  • When approaching league staff/volunteers, a mask must be worn.
  • Player benches will NOT be available during games.
  • Spectators MUST adhere to six-foot social distancing. The area behind the goal will be allowed as a spectator area to assist in creating six-foot social distancing.
  • Upon completion of a game, players, coaches and parents should leave immediately. After-game parent meetings and post-game snacks will not be allowed.


  • PSO is removing all benches and bleachers from the facilities to discourage small gatherings and encourage social distancing. 
  • PSO will provide convenient sanitizing stations for each location. 
  • PSO officials will maintain presence at games to assure the best health practices are being adhered to in regard to social distancing and sanitization based on CDC guidelines. 
  • Referees will be given temperature checks when they arrive at the fields.
