Coach Registration and Background Check

All coaches must:
1) Register to coach for free online on PSO's website each season AND
2) Submit an online volunteer background check AND
3) Complete MinistrySafe's Sexual Abuse Awareness Training

Coach Registration
Sign up as a coach when you register your child for the league or click HERE to begin the coach registration process.
If you are coaching more than one team, please select all the divisions that you are coaching in and list all teams during the registration process.

Steps for Head Coaches to Register:

Step 1: Create a new account on this website if you have never logged in, or log in with existing credentials by using the buttons at the top right of the page.

Step 2: Click on "Coach Sign Up" in the main bar at the top of any page, or "Sign Up" in the top module on this page, and then click on "Volunteer Now" beside "2018 - Fall - Soccer".

Step 3: Select the division(s) in which you want to coach.  If you coach more than one team, please select all the divisions that apply and then click "Continue" at the bottom of the page.

Step 4: Select yourself to be the Head Coach

Step 5: Enter your remaining information. This is where you will enter your Team Name.

Step 6: Your team page is created! Go to your team page and click on the "Roster" tab.  Then click on the "Manage Roster Invites" button.  From here you can invite players and assistant coaches to your team by entering their email address. This page also tells you how many players have joined your team and what the minimum and maximum players per team are. PLUS, the team code is on this page too. You can pass this code out to anyone who you would like to join your team. When you enter emails on this page, each email will already include the team code. Tell the parents of your players not to pass out the team code to anyone that is not on your roster or they will be able to register for your team.

Coaches, keep in mind that there is a maximum of 8 players per team for U4-U8 and 12 players per team for U9-U10.  If you played in our league last season you must invite all of your players back to play for you.  If you have an open spot, you can fill it with a new player of your choice; however, in most cases, any player that played on another team in our league last season is not eligible to play on your team.

Background Check
In addition to the online registration, head coaches and assistant coaches must submit an online volunteer background check.  To begin the background check process, please email Brian Bennett at [email protected] and put "Soccer Coach Background Check" in the subject line. When you complete the Head Coach registration process you will be able to send a registration email out to your team with a code that will allow the parents of your players to register for your team.

Ministry Safe Training
At Prestonwood Baptist Church, we require all staff members and volunteers to complete MinistrySafe's Sexual Abuse Awareness Training before participating in our programs.  After registering to coach, you will be sent a training link to complete the online training. You must complete this video training and quiz before you are scheduled to serve.

Please submit all other soccer questions to Jenny Bessonnette at jbessonette@prestonwood.org or 972-820-5226.

Mandatory Coaches Meeting

All Head Coaches are also required to attend our mandatory coaches meeting at the beginning of each season.  Assistant coaches are welcome to participate.  Go to the Key Dates for the most current coaches meeting dates and time.

During this meeting you will be able reserve a PSO Soccer Field to practice.  The scheduling of practice space is done on a first come first serve basis.  PSO does not guarantee space so you may need to secure your own practice space elsewhere.

  1. Register online as a PSO coach
  2. Submit and have your background check approved
  3. Be assigned as a coach (In order to assign you as a coach to your team, your background check has to be CLEARED.  This takes 1-2 weeks after it has been submitted.)
  4. Once these steps have been accomplished you can go to your team page to check your roster of players.
    a. Log in with your normal registration login
    b. Click on the "Volunteer" tab under your name.  The teams you have been assigned to will be listed there and you can click on them to go to the team page to see your roster.

Value Lessons

Weekly value lessons have been added in the Value Lesson box on the right side of this page. Weekly value lessons will be done before the start of every game. The home team's head coach is responsible for leading the devotion 5 minutes before the start of the game. Bring both teams to the center of the field, present the weekly value lesson and pray with both teams. It is the responsibility of both team's coaches to bring the weekly value lesson to every game. Your referee has been asked to participate in the weekly value lesson as well.
