Maria Bower is the founder of Faith vs. Weight, a Christian-based weight-loss program that inspires a balanced approach to health and fullness of life.
Through Faith vs. Weight, Maria provides participants with an opportunity to take an honest look at whether their lifestyle choices are enhancing or undermining all that they are capable of achieving on their faith journey. Biblical inspiration is introduced each week along with behavior, nutrition, and fitness strategies that have helped multiple individuals and couples overcome erroneous beliefs and unhealthy behaviors to lose weight while growing in their faith. Clients have included senior-level executives, church leaders, health and wellness specialists, dentists, teachers, lawyers, retirees, and stay-at-home moms.
Maria served for 12 years as a U.S. Navy officer primarily in healthcare administration in the United States and overseas, and as a military White House social aide. She graduated from George Washington University with an MBA and has certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a personal trainer specializing in fitness nutrition, weight loss, and women’s fitness.
Sandy has been a trainer at Prestonwood since 2002, a time when the workout space was nothing more than a small closet converted into a weight room. For several years, she also served as the assistant varsity girls basketball coach at PCA, in addition to acting as volunteer coach for the church’s Mavericks league. The long-term relationships she has developed with many church families is something she cherishes.
With a degree in exercise physiology from Texas A&M Commerce, in addition to a certification in personal training, Sandy’s unique training and coaching style applies her expert understanding of the way the body responds to exercise. She is skilled at customizing exercises to address her clients' needs as related to specific injuries or rehabilitation challenges. Helping clients who are facing health issues such as multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia or obesity, or who are recovering from a stroke or heart attack, is her specialty and greatest joy. Whether training at the Sports & Fitness Center or in her clients' homes, Sandy is known for making workouts both sweaty and fun.
When she’s not doing personal training, Sandy uses her experience as a former collegiate basketball player, coaching kids through her Texas Elite basketball club.
At Texas Elite, kids of all ages are prepared to ultimately achieve their dreams of playing collegiate basketball and earning valuable scholarships. Sandy has a passion for helping kids discover not just skills for basketball but the skills for life. She happily lends her time to one-on-one skills training and mentorship for youth of all ages.
Sandy is devoted to her family, which includes her husband, Steve, and miracle daughters, Courtney and Caitlin. Steve and Sandy recently became empty nesters and are enjoying figuring out what adventures God will lead them on next.
Licia is the wife to Michael and mother to three beautiful daughters (Jordan, Nikki and Tori). As long as she can remember, she was involved in sports and athletics. Over the years, these activities took a toll on her body in general, and in particular, resulted in lower back pain, which affected nearly every area of her life. Licia quickly discovered the benefits that stretching, flexing and increased balance can have on daily health, especially in the aging process. Over time, not only did her lower back problems disappear, she found renewed vitality, and strength in every area of life. Licia is passionate in her belief that God has called her to lead a class using movements to help others discover these same benefits. Her class, Faith Moves, is 100-percent dedicated to the glory of Christ. Come and join Faith Moves today and start discovering the results for yourself.
A Dallas native, Toby Graham graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in business. She led project management initiatives, facilitated corporate training, and managed the documentation and training team for Ross Perot’s Dallas-based company, PerotSystems, for seven years before becoming a full-time mom.
Toby’s passion for wellness prompted her to pursue a personal trainer certification at the Cooper Institute in Dallas, and a coaching certification through Road Runners Club of America. She has a passion for helping women achieve total body wellness: body, mind and spirit. She founded Core Values – Get Fit from the Inside Out, a small-group, strength-training class for women at Prestonwood Baptist Church where she has instructed weekly for the past nine years. In addition, to Core Values, Toby also enjoys regular teaching and speaking engagements throughout each year to promote wellness. Recently, she was interviewed along with her client, Gwen Kelley, on CBS This Morning to highlight the growing number of churches that help members connect physical and spiritual wellness through a fitness ministry.
As part of her own pursuit of wellness, Toby spent more than a decade participating in statewide road races. While she still enjoys an occasional run, she spends most of her time in the weight room because strength training is her passion.
Toby is most blessed to be married to her wonderful husband of 18 years, Jason, and to be the mom to two fun boys, Ian (11), and Levi (3), and one furry baby, Ranger (the family’s golden retriever). Together, they make up “Team Graham.”
