PSO offers several youth
football leagues from flag football for younger children to
full contact tackle football for older children. The
different leagues are discussed below.
Flag League
Players
are assigned to requested teams, if space is available;
otherwise, they are assigned by zip code / school
attendance.
1st Year Flag (Pre-K /
Kindergarten - 5-6 yrs.)
First year players only.
In the Flag League, emphasis is on skills, fun and positive
competitive values. No score is kept and there will be no

school.
Division 6 (6th Grade -

More
advanced skills are taught each year. Emphasis is on
preparing the player for a smooth transition to middle
school.
Player Participation
Many of our players are new, first-time football players in
each age group. All players are required to start on offense
or defense and play a minimum of half the game, through
three quarters. The season begins the first Saturday after
Labor Day and ends before Thanksgiving, with the exception
of games rescheduled due to inclement weather.
Player Weights
No child is excluded because of weight. Parents often fear
that larger players might fall on a smaller player and cause
injury. Football is one of the safest children's team
sports. Few serious injuries ever occur and every effort is
made to protect children. All players must be weighed by
August 25th by PSO staff and this will be their playing
weight for the season. The ball carrier weight
in tackle leagues cannot exceed:

Coaches
PSO football is about kids, but coaches make the positive
difference. All coaches are required to complete a
comprehensive certification process which includes a
criminal background check. All Head Coaches are also
required to attend our mandatory coaches meeting at the
beginning of each season. Coaches must register
through our online registration system. Please click
HERE to begin this free registration process.
Officials
We utilize great officials who love children. Our officials
are members in good standing with the Texas Association of
Sports Officials (TASO) and most work 4A and 5A High School
games on Friday nights.
Player Certification
A copy of a state certified birth certificate is required
for all players. This certificate should be turned in
to the Head Coach by Aug 20th.
Division
Determination
Division eligibility is determined by a child's grade for
the upcoming school year. The player's age is
determined as of 9/1/2010. The player may not exceed
the age limit for their division in order to play in the
current grade.
Game Days
Most games are played on Saturdays, but can be played on
weekday evenings. (Head coaches determine practice times and
locations.)
Equipment
PSO is committed to providing the safest possible playing
environment for your child. We have a preferred provider
relationship with NJS Sports for parents to directly
purchase equipment at a price below market. While we support
NJS and their special PSO pricing parents may chose to
purchase equipment elsewhere. All equipment will be
inspected for minimum safety requirements prior to games.
For your convenience NJS will be selling product directly
during our weight and fitting days. Click
HERE for uniform fitting dates.
Post-Season Football Celebrations
At the end of the season, a celebrity speaker shares about
his faith and player trophies are given to the coaches for
presentation. All teams must attend to be eligible for post
season play.

PSO league fees do not include the cost of a uniform or
