New Information for 2009-2010
We would like to recognize and thank Gary Dutka for agreeing to be
our Upward League Commissioner this year. Gary has coached in our
league and served on our leadership team. He brings great
organization and some new ideas to help us make this the best season
ever. We are very pleased to announce lower pricing this year. We were able to do this by cutting back on our
advertisement budget. We need your help in spreading the word
about our League.
We are also introducing a new division to our league. This will be a
co-ed PreK division. It will be run in either a 3 on 3 format or a
4 on 4 format with smaller teams. The cost of this division is the
same due to the cost of uniforms and other items that they will receive.
Coaches
Many want to know why PSO rates so highly with parents and children. We
want the coaches to be difference-makers and to that end, we will provide
training to help the coaches be the best they can be. 95% of our coaches
are parents of a child on the team. If you are looking
for a way to make a positive impact and grow as an individual we encourage
you to volunteer as a coach and together we will succeed for the children.
All of our coaches are required to go through a certification process and
complete background check. They are also required to help us
referee games. We believe that our coaches make the best
referees because they better understand what we are trying to accomplish
in our league. It also helps them become a better coach by putting
them in a position to make sure they know the rules.

a PDF form that will allow you to type in and save the information.
Please fill out completely, save a copy and email it to Gail Mixon at
gmixon@prestonwood.org.
If you have trouble typing in or saving the information, simply
print and complete in detail, sign, date and fax to the attention of
Gail Mixon
to 972-820-5200. Make sure that you list yourself as the coach in
the preferred coach box when registering your child.
Uniforms
A game t-shirt, jersey and pair of shorts are included in your
registration fee. Please select the correct size during
registration. It is strongly recommended that you attend the
evaluation day and try on sample uniforms to confirm or correct sizes.
Once the uniforms are ordered, we are not able to switch out sizes.
Evaluation Requirements
and Scheduled Days
All players must attend one of the evaluation periods, which are
provided below. Upward does not allow pre-formed teams; therefore,
evaluations are critical to the formation of the teams. Failure to
attend one of the evaluations may prevent us from placing your child
on a team.
Exception: PreK & Kindergarten players will not be
evaluated but need to show up on Evaluation Day to be measured for
height and to be sized for uniforms.

NO,
players will be placed on teams according to evaluation scores. The coach
preference field on the registration form is only for those players
whose parent is going to coach the team. If two parents want to
coach together, they should list both their name and their coaching
partner's name in the preferred coach box. Although other parents may help with the team, there
will only be a head coach and 1 assistant coach for each team.
Registration Fees
The cost per child is $110. There is a $15 discount if
you register before October 1st. There will be a $35 late fee for all
registrations after October 16, 2007 (No registrations are guaranteed
after the registration deadline).
Player Participation
Each child will receive equal playing time through the game.
Can You Volunteer?
Absolutely! We have many needs. You can volunteer for as little as two
hours per season. Contact Gail Mixon, Upward Executive Director, at

After registration closes, can my child still
join a team?
After registration closes, we will start a waiting list.
Using that list, we will start placing players on teams that are in need
of players. If you would like to be put on the waiting list,
please send the following information to Gail Mixon at
gmixon@prestonwood.org.

is average for the players age and gender.
