Practice Night Devotions

Each team should have a devotion before or after each practice.  If your coach or a team representative is not having a devotion time at practice each week, please contact Brad Freeman at bfreeman@prestonwood.org.

Coaching Application

A volunteer (coach) application can be downloaded here.  This is a PDF form that will allow you to type in and save the information.  Please fill out completely, save a copy and email it to Gail Mixon at gmixon@prestonwood.org.  If you have trouble typing in or saving the information, simply print and complete in detail, sign, date and fax to the attention of Gail Mixon to 972-820-5200.  Make sure that you list yourself as the coach in the preferred coach box when registering your child. 

Coaches Meeting

Coaches will be required to attend a coaches meeting where a clear message will be provided regarding the mission of the Maverick Basketball League, league rules, expectations, etc. All coaches will be expected to attend and sign a statement of understanding. Coaches meeting dates are listed on the Mavs Key Dates page.  You must attend one of the mandatory meetings.

Coaching Clinic

Before the season starts we will conduct a coaching clinic for all coaches in the Maverick League. During this clinic we will provide suggested drills, plays, strategy and other tips to help you be the best coach, leader and mentor possible for the children and their families.  The coaching clinic will be held in November.  The date has not been set at this time. 

Evaluation Requirements and Scheduled Days

If your child did not participate in the Mavericks League last season and is new for this season (s)he must attend one of the two evaluation periods, which are provided below. This includes children on a pre-formed team as well as those signing up individually. Failure to attend one of the evaluations may prevent us from placing your child on a team.

Saturday, October 10th or October 17th (at PSO Gyms)

Registration Fees

The cost per child is $125. There is a $10 discount if you register before October 1.  There will be a $35 late fee for all registrations after October 16, 2007 (No registrations are guaranteed after the registration deadline).

Post-Season Tournament

There will be a post-season tournament in each age division.  Participation in this tournament is an added bonus and not a right.  It is not guaranteed that all teams will make it into the tournament.  Seeding in this tournament will be determined based on win/loss record during the regular season.  In the event of ties the online standings may not be correct (please check the official rules for tie breaker rules).  Teams will only advance to the post-season tournament if they can field a team of at least 5 players and one coach at the End-of-Season Celebration (please check key dates for date and time).  The tournament is a single elimination tournament.  Failure to attend the End-of-Season Celebration is considered a loss in the tournament.
